The Listening program

Prescription for Success is an Authorized Provider of the well-known "THE LISTENING PROGRAM" from Advanced Brain Technologies. THE LISTENING PROGRAM, based on the respected work of Dr. Alfred A. Tomatis, is a music-Based Auditory Stimulation method that gently trains the auditory system to accurately process sound. Classical works of Mozart, Haydn, and Vivaldi are used to create change in the brain

With over thirty years of research, clinical cases, and independent studies conducted through universities, schools, and learning centers, THE LISTENING PROGRAM (TLP) is highly respected and recommended among professionals. Therapists, physicians, neurodevelopment specialists, musicians, and audio engineers devoted years to the development of TLP.

When auditory perception is distorted-whether through illness, injury, developmental or other challenges-auditory processing problems can lead to academic, emotional, cognitive, and social challenges, including problems with the following:

  • Attention & Concentration
  • Listening
  • Speech & Language
  • Memory
  • Communication
  • Social Skills

Neuroscience is proving that brain function can change due to our “brain plasticity”, the ability to adapt and change itself. With specific stimulation through our senses, the brain can establish new neural pathways. In order to have this change, the sensory stimulation must be specific, intense, frequent, for a sufficient period of time. A definitive effort must be made to convince the brain that the intention is to create a change. This plasticity stays with us our entire lives.

How can we overcome auditory processing challenges, moving from a disorganized to an organized system?
Certain classical music, like that of Mozart, Haydn, and Vivaldi, has specific structure, producing sound waves in organized patterns. Within these patterns are vital elements including time, frequency and volume. When listening to music, the ear is receiving the musical sound waves that arrive in different frequencies, measured in Hertz. These frequencies stimulate the brain, and thus, affect different functions of the mind and body.

THE LISTENING PROGRAM’S psychoacoustically modified music and production techniques are designed to “exercise” the different functions of the auditory processing system. This enables the brain to better receive, process, store and utilize the valuable information provided through the varied soundscapes in our lives such as music, language, and the environment in which we live.

Lower frequency sounds affect:
  • Balance
  • Rhythm
  • Coordination
  • Muscle Tone
  • Body Awareness
  • Sense of Direction
  • Laterality
  • Right/Left Discrimination

Mid and higher frequency sounds affect:
  • Memory
  • Concentration
  • Attention
  • Speech
  • Language
  • Vocal Control

Higher frequency sounds affect:
  • Energy
  • Intuition
  • Ideas
  • Ideals
  • Creativity
  • Auditory Cohesion

THE LISTENING PROGRAM (TLP) enables listeners to effectively exercise the auditory processing system in three phases:

  • The “warm-up” which relaxes the listener and prepares the auditory processing system for the more intensive stimulation of the next phase
  • The “training” phase which is an intense auditory workout
  • The “integration” phase which is a return to a more relaxed state

TLP has a great success history with those with ADHD/ADD, Auditory Processing problems, Dyslexia, Autism, Memory problems, and much more.

Professionals become TLP providers by completing a comprehensive training program. Once trained, TLP providers are well-equipped to design individual, appropriate listening plans specific for each client based on initial client information. Generally, listeners will use TLP once or twice a day for 15 minutes, five days a week. The initial listening plan will take place over the course of at least a few months, followed by maintenance listening to build on specific benefits. As TLP providers monitor progress, they will often make adjustments throughout the listening plan to meet individual needs.

Whatever the listening schedule, consistency on the part of the listener is critical. For lasting change, casual exposure to auditory stimulation will not produce results.

Whether you are interested in improving brain health for longevity, expanding your own abilities, or helping someone you care about, TLP can make a significant difference.

With the guidance of your TLP provider, Prescription for Success, THE LISTENING PROGRAM is an easy-to-use, portable method that can bring about lasting change.
